NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (R1 represents H or acyl; R2 represents substitutive nitrogen-containing heterocyclic group; m is 0, 1 or 2; n is 1 or 2), salt and ester thereof.
EXAMPLE: Benzhydryl 7β-(2-thienyl) acetamide-3 [(5-methyl-1, 3, 4-thiadiazol-2-yl) sulfinylmethyl)]-3-cephem-1β-oxide-4-carboxylate.
USE: A chemotherapeutic agent for infectious diseases having improved toxicity.
PREPARATION: A 7-aminocephalosporanic acid expressed by formula II is ini tially reacted with an acylating agent expressed by the formula R1X, then reacted with a heterocyclic thiol expressed by the formula R2SH to provide a compound expressed by formula III. Then the compound is esterified to form a compound expressed by formula IV and oxidized to afford the aimed com pound except when m is 0.
