Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a novel compound which is useful as an antimicrobial agent because it inhibits pathogenic microorganisms over a wide range including gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria from growing.
CONSTITUTION: A compound of formula I [R1 is amino, acylamino; R2 is hydroxy (which may be protected); A is lower alkylene], for example, 7β- amino-3-[1-{(5-hydroxy-4-oxo-1,4-dihydropyridin-2yl) methyl}-5-(1H-imidazo[1,2 b]pyrazolio)]methyl-3-cephem-4-carboxylate dihydrochloride. The compound of formula I is given by the reaction between compounds of formula II (X1 is a leaving group) and formula III.
