NEW MATERIAL:A cyclohexanecarboxylic acid derivative shown by the formulaI(R is 2W10C straight-chain or branched alkyl).

EXAMPLE: 1-Hexyl-3-oxocyclohexanecarboxylic acid.

USE: Having pharmaceutical actions such as antitumor action, antiallergic action, liver function improving action, antihyperlipemia action, useful as a drug.

PROCESS: A compound shown by the formula II is oxidized with an oxidizing agent such as chromic acid, etc. in an inert solvent such as acetone, etc. at 0°CWroom temperature, or, if necessary, under heating at 60W80°C, to give a compound shown by the formulaI.
