NEW MATERIAL:A novel cytokinin having lymphocyte proliferation inhibitory action.
USE: A medicine, capable of inhibiting proliferation of lymphocytes by stimulation with a stimulator and useful as an immunosuppressive agent, treating agent for malignant tumors, etc.
PREPARATION: A human macrophage-like cell strain U937 is cultured and the resultant culture solution is recovered to provide a liquid, which is then purified. Furthermore, in the purification, at least one step of metals for ultrafiltration, anion exchange chromatography, chromatofocusing and gel permeation chromatography, chromatofocusing and gel permeation chromatography is preferably carried out in an optional order and the resultant cytokinin preferably has about 40000 to 55000 daltons molecular weight estimated by a sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) method and 4.0 to 5.5 isoelectric point determined by chromatofocusing analysis with a MonoP(R) column.
