1519362 Ripening sugar cane W R GRACE & CO 18 June 1976 [23 June 1975] 25434/76 Heading CIB [Also in Division C2] A ripening composition for sugar-cane comprises a tetrahydrobenzothiophene derivative of the Formula II:- wherein X is cyano or carbo C 1 -C 4 alkoxy, R, is hydrogen or methyl; and either: (i) Z is oxygen and R1 2 is a C 1 -C 4 alkyl optionally substituted by chlorine, bromine or fluorine; 2-furyl; phenyl; butylamino; chloromethylamino; or phenylamino optionally substituted by 1 to 3 substituents selected from C 1 -C 4 alkyl, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy, halogen or C 1 -C 4 haloalkyl, or (ii) Z is sulphur and R 2 is butylamino; chloromethylamino; or phenylamino optionally substituted by 1 to 3 substituents selected from C 1 -C 4 alkyl, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy, halogen or C 1 -C 4 haloalkyl, together with an inert carrier.
