Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an electrorheological fluid composition having high yield stress and good dispersion stability.
CONSTITUTION: This novel electrorheological fluid is a dispersion liquid wherein structural fine particles represented by the formula: [(M)p(H2O)x(OH)y]qc[A]urd.Bz.nH2O [wherein (m) is a metal cation; (p) is the total valence of M; (x) is 0 or a value greater than 0; (y) is 0 or a value greater than 0, provided that only one of (x) or (y) can be 0 at any given time; (q) is p minus y and is a value of at least 1; (c) is a value greater than 0; A is an anion; (r) is the total valence of A and is a value of at least 1; (d) is a value greater than 0, provided that (q×c) is always equal to (r×d); B is an amino acid; (z) is a value of from 0.01 to 100; (n) is a number from 0 to 15] are dispersed in a nonconductive liquid.
