PURPOSE: To provide a hair-fixing agent for hair-spray use, and a hair-spray composition having high safety and containing the hair-fixing agent, by using a compound obtained by neutralizing an ester of a specific multi-component copolymer with an amine, and a liquefied petroleum gas propellant.
CONSTITUTION: (A) Maleic anhydride, (B) ethyl vinyl ether, and (C) one or more higher aliphatic vinyl ethers having 6W16C alkyl group, are copolymerized. The molar ratios of (A):(B):(C) are pref. 50:30:20W50:20:30. The copolymer is converted to the half ethanol ester, and neutralized with an amine to impart water solubility. The hair-fixing agent thus prepared is usually dissolved in ethanol, and combined with a propellant comprising a liquefied petroleum gas which has higher safety than flon gas, to obtain a hair-spray composition. The fixing agent has excellent compatibility with the liquefied petroleum gas which is a poor solvent. It has excellent hair-fixing property, and can be easily washed off.
