EXAMPLE: Benzaldehyde-(1-methyl-1-p-methoxyphenylhydrazone).

USE: Charge-transfer agent of photo-sensitive material in electrophotography. When used in combination with various charge-generating materials, the compound exhibits proper charge potential in dark, and dissipates the charge rapidly by photo-irradiation. Especially effective to a charge-generating material only giving the combinations having high charge potential in dark and poor dissipation of the charge with light-irradiation.

PROCESS: The compound of formulaIis prepared by reacting the compound of formula II with 1-methyl-1-p-methoxyphenylhydrazine in an organic solvent such as methanol, ethanol, etc. The reaction can be accelerated by adding HCl, etc.
