Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The hydroxycarboxylic acid derivative expressed by formula l [R is H or ≤10C hydrocarbon group; Ar, is (halogen-substituted) ≤20C aromatic hydrocarbon group; (m) is l-3; (n) is 0 or 1-20].
EXAMPLE: The compound expressed by formula II.
USE: Raw material for polymer having excellent heat resistance and mechanical strength or an epoxy resin hardener.
PREPARATION: The hydroxycarboxylic acid derivative of formula I can be produced by reacting an aldehyde of formula III with an aromatic hydroxy compound of formula IV in the presence of an acidic catalyst.
