To provide an ionizable group-containing polymer that constitutes a proton exchange membrane for fuel cells having high power generation performance in a low humidity range, which has been difficult to achieve in the conventional proton exchange membrane produced from a hydrocarbon polymer electrolyte, to provide a composition of the electrolyte and to provide a molded article and a proton exchange membrane for fuel cells.
The ionizable group-containing polymer is provided, which includes in a molecule a structure represented by formula 1 (wherein X is selected from the group consisting of a sulfonic acid group, a salt of a sulfonic acid group, a phosphonic acid group, a salt of a phosphonic acid group, a carboxyl group and a salt of a carboxyl group; W represents any of an oxygen atom, a sulfur atom or a direct bond; n represents an integer of not less than 1 to not more than 100; and a, b, c, d and e each independently represent an integer of 0 to 5, provided that not all of a, b, c, d and e represent 0).
