To obtain a material excellent in durability and capable of good color display, wherein a plurality of organic base skeletons having acceptor properties are connected to each other through substituents having donor properties, and the color development results from the intramolecular electron migration among the substituents and the basic skeletons.
A plurality of organic basic skeletons having acceptor properties are connected to each other through substituents having donor properties and being derived of compounds of thiophenols or derivatives thereof, or the like, and the color development results from the intramolecular electron migration among the substituents and the organic basic skeletons and is represented by formula I. A pigment represented by formula II, III, or the like is used for a color filter. The organic base skeletons having acceptor properties is exemplified by anthraquinone, coumarin, perylene, or a derivative thereof. In the formulas, R1 to R2, R5, and R6, which may be the same or different from each other, are each H or an alkyl; X1 to X4, which may be the same or different from each other, are each S, O, NH, or Se; and Z is H or an alkyl.
