Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject novel compds. useful as cholesterol biosynthesis inhibitors.
CONSTITUTION: A compd. of the formula (R1 is H, OH; R2 is OH, oxo; R3 is methoxy, OH, together with R1 form an ether bridge; R4 is H, OH; R5 is H, together with R4 form one additional bond; R6 is H, together with R3 form one additional bond). The compd. of the formula is obtd. by culturing Fusarium species DSM-5983 in a nutrient medium contg. preferably 0.2 to 5% malt extract, 0.1 to 0.5% yeast extract, 0.5 to 2% glucose and 0.01 to 0.1% (NH4)2HPO4.
