NEW MATERIAL:A compound of formulaI(R is H or methyl).
EXAMPLE: 4-(Methacryloyloxymethyl)cyclohexylmethyl dihydrogenphosphate.
USE: A dental adhesive, capable of exhibiting an adhesive force to various metals, e.g. Fe or Ni, and the tooth several times that of 4-methacryloyloxyethyl trimellitate, and applicable to industrial uses, e.g. structural adhesives, coating materials and metallic surface surface treating agents, by utilizing the adheisve force to the metals.
PROCESS: 1,4-Cyclohexanedimethanol of formula II is reacted with (meth)acrylic acid to give a mixture of a monoester with a diester of the cyclohexanedimethanol, which is then reacted with phosphorus oxychloride in an equimolar amount of more based on the monoester. The P-Cl bond in the resultant compound is then hydrolyzed to afford a phosphoric ester, which is isolated to give the aimed compound.
