NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I [R1 is H, lower alkyl or lower alkoxyphenyl; R2 and R6 are H or lower alkyl; R3 and R5 are H or together form a single bond; R4 is lower alkyl; R7 is H, hydroxyiminomethyl, cyano, etc.; R10 is H or lower alkyl which may have (esterified)carboxyl group] or its salt.
EXAMPLE: (E,E)-N-n-Butyl-4-ethyl-2,4-hexadienamide.
USE: Useful as a vasodilator, hypotensor, and antithrombic agent. It has muscle relaxing activity to smooth muscles resulting in the cardiovascular dilating and hypotensive activities, etc., and is effective to inhibit the coagulation of blood platelet.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I a can be prepared by reacting the compound of formula II or its salt with dinitrogen trioxide in the presence of an acid such as hydrochloric acid.
