Abstract:
To produce a novel nucleic acid originated from Tetrahymena coding for a triterpenoid cyclase.
This nucleic acid is originated from Tetrahymena for coding a triterpenoid cyclase specific to Trichinella spiralis. The nucleotide sequence according to this invention and polypeptide sequence derived from the same are remarkably little in identity of the sequence with a known isoprenoid cyclase. The nucleic acid is used for regulated expression in the host and knock out or inhibition (Reprimierung) of a desired gene. By effectively regulating expression of the triterpenoid cyclase in this way, the content of a multiply unsaturated fatty acid in the host can be varied or increased.
