EXAMPLE: 1-Azido-2-[4-(3,5-dichloro-pyridyl-2-oxy)phenoxy]propane.
USE: A herbicide capable of exhibiting selectivity between not only broad-leaved plants and gramineous plants but also gramineous weeds and gramineous crop plants.
PREPARATION: A compound expressed by formula III (R5 is Cl, Br, I, -OSO2CH3, etc.) is reacted with a compound expressed by the formula MN3 (M is Li, K or Na) in a solvent, such as DMF, at 50W120°C to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I (Z is azide). Sodium azide, lithium azide, etc., are cited as the compound expressed by the formula MN3.
