EXAMPLE: 10-Hydroxy-2E,8E-diene-4,6-diyne-pentadecanal.
USE: An active ingredient of 5-lipoxygenase and cyclooxygenase inhibitors and effectively used as an antiallergic, antiinflammatory agent or circulatory drug in treating diseases caused by arachidonic acid dysbolism.
PREPARATION: Pulverized Bupleuri Radix is extracted with a solvent, such as ether, and the solvent is removed from the resultant extract to provide a residue, which is then subjected to column chromatography, etc., using a porous polymer, such as Diaion HP20(R), or Sephadex(R), such as Sephadex LH-20(R), as a carrier, once or several times using a solvent, such as hexane-ethyl acetate, as an extracting solvent and subsequently fractionated while confirming the objective ingredients by thin-layer chromatography, etc., to afford the compounds expressed by the formula.
