Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled compound useful as pharmaceuticals having coronary vessel dilating action and psychotropic action, with simple procedure, in high yield, by acetylating a 3-hydroxy-benzothiazepin derivative, and then alkylating the product.
CONSTITUTION: 2-( 4-Hydroxyphenyl )-3-hydroxy-5-( 2-dimethylaminoethyl )-2, 3-dihydro-1,5-benzothiazepin-4(5H)-one of formulaIis acetylated with acetic anhydride, glacial acetic acid, etc. in the absence of solvent or in a solvent such as pyridine, trialkylamine, etc. to obtain a novel compound of formula II, which is alkylated with dialkyl sulfate in the presence of an alkali (e.g. sodium hydroxide, potassium hydride, etc.) to obtain the objective compound of formula III.
