Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by formula I (W is nitro or amino).
EXAMPLE: l-threo-2-Acetoxy-3-( 2-nitrophenylthio )-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)-propionic acid.
USE: A synthetic intermediate for α-form diltiazem hydrochoride which is a remedy for angina pectoric and hypertension.
PREPARATION: A salt of α-threo-2-hydroxy-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)-3-(2- nitrophenylthio)-propionic acid expressed by formula II (B is optically active organic base) with an optically active organic base is reacted with a reactive derivative of acetic acid at the carboxyl group, e.g. acetyl halide, in a solvent, e.g. chloroform, at 0W100°C to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula I.
