EXAMPLE: 3-O-[ 6-O-Malonyl-β-D-glucopyranosyl( 1→2 )-β-D-glucopyranosyl ]-20-O- [β-D-glucopyranosyl( 1→6 )-β-D-glucopyranosyl]20( S )-protopanaxadiol (malonyl- ginsenoside).
USE: Cell activators.
PREPARATION: A crude drug of panax ginseng C. A. Meyer, preferably ginseng is defatted if necessary with an organic solvent, and then extracted with water or a hydrous lower alcohol under heating. The resultant extract is then distributed and extracted with water and an aliphatic ether and/or aliphatic medium alcohol, and the fraction transferred to the water is separated and purified.
