Title:
NOVEL SUPPORTED COPPER CATALYST, ITS PRODUCTION AND PRODUCTION OF N-ALKYLATED AROMATIC AMINE USING THE SAME
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH02180640
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently produce a N-alkylated aromatic amine by forming a catalyst by carrying a specific quantity of each of catalytic components composed of copper, manganese and a rare earth metal on a carrier containing alumina.

CONSTITUTION: This catalyst is formed by carrying 0.1-5 wt.% copper and 0.05-8 wt.% in total content of manganese and the rare earth metal expressed in terms of metal to be 5:1 to 1:5 in the weight ratio of the rare earth metal to manganese. The N-alkylated aromatic amine expressed by formula II (each of R1 and R2 represents a 1-5C alkyl group or alkoxyl group and each of R3 and R4 represents a 1-10C alkyl group or a cycloalkyl group) is produced by allowing an aromatic amine expressed by formula I to catalytically react with an alkanol or the ether in the presence of the catalyst.
