PURPOSE: To obtain a thermoplastic fluoroelastomer having a very low compression set and an excellent tensile strength by introducing a small amt. of a bis-olefin into elastomeric and plastomeric fluoropolymer segments.
CONSTITUTION: This fluoroelastomer has a block structure comprising (A) fluoropolymer segments having elastomeric properties and (B) fluoropolymer segments having plastomeric properties, segments A or B contg. bis-olefin monomer units of the formula [wherein R1 to R6 are each H or a 1-5C alkyl; and Z is a 1-18C (cyclo)alkylene, pref. a (per)fluoropolyoxyalkylene]. The content of the bis-olefin monomer units in segments A or B is 0.01-1 mol.%, pref. 0.03-0.5 mol.%, based on total monomer units. Segment A is formed from tetrafluoroethylene, a perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether, or the like; and segment B, from a perfluoroalkyl vinyl ether, vinylidene fluoride, or the like.
