Abstract:

NEW MATERIAL:A toluquinone compound of formula I or II.

USE: A medicine such as cerebral circulation improving agent, antiinflammatory agent, face paint or antifungal agent. Giving vasohypotonic, antiinflammatory, melanization-inhibitory and antifungal activities.

PREPARATION: Seaweed belonging to Fucales such as Sargassum macrocarpum is extracted with a solvent such as ethanol or methanol followed by purification with chromatography, thus obtaining the objective compound of the formula I or II, in high yield. Alternatively, using a known compound of formula III as raw material, the objective compound can be obtained through an established organic synthesis.
