To provide a nozzle and a method for working a nozzle by which formation of vertical stripes due to foreign substances, cohering substances in a coating material and dust on a substrate is suppressed, and moreover even a coating material which has high cohesive property and low fluidity can be applied in uniform thickness.
This nozzle comprises an upper steam lip 1, a downstream lip 2 projected out toward a substrate and having a curved surface, and a slit 3 formed of the upper stream lip 1 and the downstream lip 2 and the edge B of the downstream lip 2 in the slit 3 side is so formed into a curved surface as to have a curvature radius within 5-45μm. Owing to the edge B, even a highly viscous coating material which is extremely hard to flow runs into a gap between the downstream lip 2 and a substrate without any trouble and moreover cohering substances in the coating material and dust adhering to the substrate are not caught on the edge B and formation of vertical stripes which resin the quality of products can be suppressed.
