To provide a nozzle plate manufacturing method whereby a nozzle plate equipped with a configuration suitable for a liquid discharge head that utilizes the electric field assisting method is manufactured easily, and to provide a nozzle plate.

In the nozzle plate manufacturing method molding nozzles by pressing a substrate set between a first mold with projections that form an inverted shape of the nozzles and a second mold disposed oppositely to this first mold, the following is included. A film is formed on a molding surface of the first mold, and the substrate is held in the second mold. The held substrate is heated, and the first mold with the film formed is heated. While the substrate and the first mold are heated, the molding surface where the film of the first mold is formed is pressed against the substrate held in the second mold, thereby molding the nozzles in the substrate and also transferring the film to the substrate. The substrate is cooled while pressed. The second mold is released from the substrate. Liquid repellency processing is carried out to the surface of the substrate where the second mold is released. The substrate is released from the first mold.
