PURPOSE: To reduce the influence of air stream accompanied with the cooling roll rotated at high speed and to produce an amorphous thin metal strip having excellent surface condition by providing a flowing groove for flowing the air stream in the width direction of a nozzle at the upper part from the lower surface of a refractory.
CONSTITUTION: This nozzle 3 for producing the amorphous thin metal strip 7 consists of an injection silt 8 for supplying molten metal 1 from a tundish onto the surface of the cooling roll 2 rotated at the high speed to form a well part (paddle) 4 therein and a refractory 10 surrounding this injection slit. The flowing groove 9 for flowing the air stream 5 accompanied with the cooling roll 2 rotated at the high speed is provided at the upper part from the lower surface of this refractory 10 in the width direction of the nozzle in the refractory 10. Major part of the air stream 5 generated by this cooling roll 2 is allowed to be flowed in the width direction of the nozzle 3 before the air stream is collided with the paddle 4. In this result, the vibration generated in the paddle 4 and the trapping of gas are reduced and the thin strip excellent in surface condition is produced.
