Abstract:
To obtain a nuclear battery which undergoes little degradation due to radiation, and which is compact and has a long life.SOLUTION: In this nuclear battery 1, a ferromagnetic insulating layer 20 and a metal layer 30 are sequentially formed on a substrate 10 along a film thickness direction (direction z). In this nuclear battery 1, a thermoelectric transducer 5 is constituted of the ferromagnetic insulating layer (ferromagnetic layer) 20 and the metal layer 30. A radiation source (heat source) 40 that generates radiation is connected to the underside of the substrate 10. A first electrode 31 and a second electrode 32 are connected respectively to both ends in the direction of an axis y in the drawing, of the metal layer 30 since a potential difference due to spin Seebeck effect occurs in the direction of the axis y. In the thermoelectric transducer 5 (ferromagnetic insulating layer 20, metal layer 30) of this nuclear battery 1, the radiation source 40 that generates radiation other than α ray can be used since degradation due to radiation exposure hardly occurs.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
