Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable to accurately grind a glass plate by equipping a fixed suction cup device for vacuum-sucking the center of the glass plate and plural suction cup devices movable in response to the shape of the glass plate and subsequently vacuum-attracting the glass plate.
CONSTITUTION: A glass plate 1 having a circumferential edge to be ground is loaded on the suction cup 8 of a central suction device 9. In order to arrange suction cups 5, 5a in response to the shape of the glass plate, motors 23, 23a, 34, and 34a are operated to transfer the suction cups 5, 5a in the directions of X and Y. Other suction cups not drawn are also similarly transferred to prescribed positions, respectively, and the motors are subsequently stopped. Suction devices 6, 6a and the central suction device 9 are operated to vacuum- attract the glass plate 1 with the suction cups 5, 5a, 8 for its secure holding. Subsequently, the grinding center of a grinding wheel 42 is transferred in response to the circumferential edge of the glass plate 1 by the actions of the motors 54, 82, and the glass plate is then ground. A motor 72 is operated to rotate a grinding wheel 42 in the direction of R so that an axis 61 is directed toward the slope line of a grinding point during the grinding work.
