PURPOSE: To provide a nursery box capable of being readily disposed and incinerated in which a low frequency of irrigation is sufficient, by constructing the nursery box from a wooden frame, corrugated board bottom plate provided in the frame and a culture medium layer placed on the bottom plate.
CONSTITUTION: A nursery box is constructed from a wooden frame 1, corrugated board bottom plate 3 provided on the frame 1 and a culture medium layer 4 placed on the bottom plate 3. A culture medium prepared by placing a water holding agent 42 between plural sheets 41 (e.g. water absorbing paper) is preferably used as the culture medium layer 4. A water-insoluble water absorbing polymer (4a) (e.g. hydrolyzed starch-acrylonitrile graft polymer) or a blend thereof with vegetable fibers (4b) (e.g. pulp) is preferred as the water holding agent 42. Thereby, since this nursery box is disposable, enormous labor and expenses of disinfecting, washing, storing, etc., required for a conventional nursery box due to continuous use every year are not required.
