PURPOSE:To prepare a nylon 46 resin compsn. giving a molded item excellent in the heat resistance, mechanical properties, esp. impact strength, and dimensional stability by compounding nylon 46 resin with a specific imidized copolymer and a specific toughening agent. CONSTITUTION:The title composition comprises 10-98 pts.wt. nylon 46 resin (A); 1-30 pts.wt. imidized copolymer (B) contg. at least 30-90wt.% arom. vinyl monomer residues and 3-70wt.% residues of an imide deriv. of an dicarboxylic acid; and 1-80 pts.wt. toughening agent (C) comprising an acid anhydride-contg. olefin copolymer obtd. by copolymerizing an olefin or its copolymer with an unsatd. dicarboxylic acid anhydride, or an epoxy group-contg. olefin copolymer obtd. by copolymerizing at least one unsatd. glycidyl monomer with at least one olefin monomer, or mixtures of these, the sum of A+B+C being 100 pts.wt. The obtd. nylon 46 resin compsn. gives a molded item excellent in the heat resistance, mechanical properties, esp. impact strength, and dimensional stability and can be molded by injection, extrusion, blow, or vacuum molding.
