Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the compound useful as a medicament for the disorder of central nervous system accompanied by ischemia, hypoxia, hypoglycemia, epilepsy, Huntington's disease, Alzheimer's disease or the like.
CONSTITUTION: The compound of formula I (R2 is aryl, heteroaryl or formula II; R1 is H, alkyl, formula C (Y, Y1) CH2OH or formula CH2W; one of Y and Y1 is H and the other is alkyl, or both Y and Y1 are alkyl; W is cycloalkyl, aryl, alkyl or the like), e.g. (t)-3-phenoxy-N-methylmorphinan, is obtained by carrying out the Ullmann reaction of the compound of formula III with a compound of formula R2(X)n (X is halogen; n is 2) using a copper catalyst (e.g. cupric chloride) in the presence of a base (e.g. potassium hydroxide) in a solvent (e.g. nitrobenzene) at 100 to 250°C.
