PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow for zoom operation at an appropriate zoom speed depending on the situation of an object, in the automatic zoom control based on a predetermined composition.SOLUTION: An object detection means has object detection means for detecting an object from an image, setting means for setting the reference size of an object for use in the zoom operation, on the basis of a selected composition, and control means for controlling the zoom operation, on the basis of the size of the object detected by the object detection means and a reference size.
