To provide an object detector capable of specifying a lane position with an object existing positionedly in a periphery of a vehicle, using a single beam type radar system.
This object detector is provided with the single beam type right radar system 4 and left radar system 5 capable of detecting only a distance up to the object within a detection range, calculates object existing ranges 70, 71 capable of detecting the object positioned within a specified lane by the respective radar systems 4, 5, based on parameter information of the respective radar systems 4, 5, current position information of the vehicle 2 and road shape information of a road with the traveling vehicle 2, and specifies the lane position of the object, based on the detected distance up to the object.
