Abstract:
PURPOSE:To eliminate wasteful processing time and to prevent the occurrence of a photographic mistake in advance by performing process for deciding a main object only with respect to a distance measuring area in which there is an object which is closer than flush light arriving distance. CONSTITUTION:A light projecting part 1 and a light receiving part 9 are located in the front side of a camera body in the way that they are separated by specified base length. Reflected light which is projected from the light projecting part 1, and which is reflected in an object is received on the light receiving part 9. Based on the light receiving position, object distance is measured in plural areas in a photographing image. In this case, when flush photographing is performed, object distance in each distance measuring area is compared with the flush light arriving distance, and a processing means for deciding an main object is prepared only with respect to a distance measuring area in which there is an object closer than the flush light arriving distance. Therefore, the main object deciding process is not performed with respect to an object which is farther than the flush light arriving distance. Thus, the wasteful processing time can be eliminated.
