PURPOSE: To provide an object position recognizing device whose occupying space is small and which is not influenced by the disturbance light by detecting a position and discriminating data of a detecting object by an electromagnetic coupling system.
CONSTITUTION: Plural transmitting-receiving coils 12a to 12f are arranged in the lateral direction of a detecting panel, and the same number of transmitting- receiving coils 11a to 11f are arranged in the longitudinal direction. When a detecting object on which a memory device is installed exists on the detecting panel, transmitting-receiving means 16 in the lateral direction are driven in order, and a data reading-out command is transmitted. Then, a resonance circuit arranged in the memory device resonates in a carrier frequency, and intermits its residual vibration, and sends back discriminating data of itself. At this time, a control means 21 discriminates a position of the detecting object from a number of a line and a row of a switching control signal given to a lateral direction switching means 19 and a longitudinal direction switching means 20. A kind of detecting object can be recognized from the sent back discriminating data.
