PURPOSE: To obtain an observation elevator possible to easily and effectively enhance designing property by engagingly locking. a light emitting body emitting a light by electrification and a cable for supplying an electricity to the light emitting body with a compensator suspended in an observing passage through which a cage goes up and down.

CONSTITUTION: On the center of each ring part of a steel chain 16 forming the main part of a compensator 3, a plastic base 7 is mounted. In the center part of the base 7, a cylindrical light emitting body 8 emitting red light from both the side surfaces by electrification is embedded. Further, a pair of cord wires 9 are vertically extended through the left part of the base 7, and connected to a pair of terminal parts of the light emitting body 8 in the inner part of the base 7. The voltage applied to the cord wires 9 is on/off, whereby the light emitting body 8 disposed on the chain 16 through the base 7 is on/off and flashed to emit the red light from each light emitting body 8.
