Title:
OBTUSE HEADED OBJECT PLACED IN FLOW OF FLUID
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3632075
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an obtuse headed object placed in a flow of fluid capable of preventing the occurrence and growth of a Karman voltex in a large scale and reducing a coefficient of resistance by blocking the flow of fluid generating along a surface of a wake side of the object by accompanying an exfoliation in a boundary layer.
SOLUTION: A plate member 3 as a flow blocking portion is arranged in a wake side of the obtuse headed object 1 in which a face 2a of the obtuse head at an upstream side is an obtuse-head curved surface against the flow F of fluid so as to block the flow of fluid along a face 2b of a wake side. As the plate member 3 blocks a flow (f) of fluid flowing into an exfoliating field along the surface 2b of the wake side caused by the exfoliation of the boundary layer to be formed on the face of the obtuse headed object 1, the occurrence and growth of the Karman voltex as a row of voltex in a large scale is prevented, and the pressure resistance of the obtuse headed object 1 is adjusted.
