Title:
OCCUPANT CRASH PROTECTOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3879338
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant crash protector capable of protecting an occupant by controlling the expansion of side air bags and an air belt according to the collision scale of a vehicle.
SOLUTION: When a collision scale is very small, neither the air bag 16 nor the air belt 2 are expanded. When the collision scale is larger than the scale required for protecting an occupant, but smaller than a prescribed scale, and also a seat back 12 is comparatively raised (e.g. reclining angle θ is larger than 45°), only an inflator 9 is operated. When the collision scale is larger than the prescribed scale, both of the inflators 9, 17 are operated regardless of the degree of the reclining angle θ. Even if the collision scale is smaller than the prescribed scale, when it is larger than the scale required for protecting an occupant and also the seat back 12 is comparatively lying (e.g. reclining angle θis smaller than 45°), both of the inflators 9, 17 are operated to expand the air bag 16 and the air belt 2.
