Abstract:
To provide an occupant protection device capable of quickly restraining an occupant's head and softly catching the upper half of the occupant's body.SOLUTION: An occupant protection device S for protecting an occupant MP seated on a seat 1 includes: an air bag 25; a supporter 10 that supports the folded air bag and is arranged in front of the waist MW of the occupant seated on the seat; and an inflator 17 capable of supplying an inflation gas to the air bag. The air bag has an upper half body restraint member 50 that is configured to protrude from the supporter when the inflation gas flows into the member and expand to cover the front side of the occupant and is arranged on the occupant's side when the expansion is completed to be capable of restraining the upper half MU of the occupant's body. The upper half body restraint member includes a chest restraint face 50a capable of restraining the occupant's chest MB at the time of completion of the expansion and a head restraint face 50b capable of restraining the occupant's head MH, and is configured to have the head restraint face positioned closer to the occupant than the chest restraint face.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
