EXAMPLE: 3-Butyl-1,2,3,4,4a,5,6,10b-octahydrobenz[f]isoquinoline.

USE: Anti-psychotic agents which are a selective ligand at sigma recoginition site in the brain and have mental-reluxing effect.

PROCESS: A compound of the formula, R1-L (L is a leaving group) is reacted with a compound of formula II in a solvent (e.g. DMF) in the presence of a base (e.g. potassium carbonate) at about 100°C to give the compound of formula I.
