Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable a coating which is optically transparent, free from aberration, and abrasion-resistant by incorporating respectively specified compds. into a base material and the coating, and respectively specifying the adhesive power of the coating to the base material and the wear resistance of a molded surface.
CONSTITUTION: This ocular coating lens consists of a coating which is molded to have a curved surface, has the SEB wear resistance of at least 20psi, and exactly copies the surfaces of the base material and molds. The coating contains a polymerizable product of a compsn. contg. a reactive ethylenic unsatd. group. The ethylenic unsatd. group can react with the org. materials (reaction products, such as allyl diglycol carbonate monomer, etc.) included in the base material in order to tightly bond the coating and the base material. The compsn. is selected from acrylate, methacrylate, their blends, polymers and copolymers, etc., and is formed so that the adhesive powder of the coating to the base material measured in accordance with the requirements stipulated in ASTMD-3359 is at least 90%.
