To provide an ocular lens for a picture display device where aberration is made excellent in the large diameter of an entrance pupil in spite of light weight and compact constitution and to enable an observer to observe a good-quality image even in the case of circumstances with vibration such as while he is walking or when he rides in a vehicle by providing a specified diffraction optical element(DOE) surface.
In this ocular, a 1st lens group G1 is composed of a 1st lens L1 consisting of a positive meniscus lens whose convex surface faces to an eye side, and a 2nd lens group G2 is composed of a 2nd lens L2 consisting of a meniscus lens whose convex surface faces to the eye side, a 3rd lens L3 consisting of a negative meniscus lens whose convex surface faces to the eye side, and a 4th lens L4 consisting of a biconvex lens whose surface having large curvature faces to the eye side in order from the eye side. The surface of the 2nd lens L2 on the eye side is made an aspherical surface equipped with the diffraction optical element(DOE) surface.
