PURPOSE: To exactly measure ocular refracting power of both eyes by only adjusting a working distance with regard to one eye by detecting photoelectrically an interval between one eye and a measuring system, and also, detecting the shift amount from a proper working distance of one eye, and correcting ocular refracting power of one eye from the shift amount.
CONSTITUTION: Optical axes 31, 32 of measuring systems 1, 2, an optical axis 33 of a fixed target system 3, and an optical axis 34 of a target projecting system 6 are allowed to conform roughly with each other, and also, a luminous flux from a fixed target 16 is allowed to coincide roughly with an alignment range of the measuring system in a position of an eye to be examined. An examiner executes the alignment to an extent that both eye parts of the eye to be examined move onto a monitor screen by using a forward/backward, upward/ downward and left/right moving mechanism, and also, puts both eye holes 10 of the eye to be examined into an alignment area and executes optical axis matching. Also, by looking at a monitor, a working distance of one side is adjusted. Moreover, by detecting the shift amount of a position on a photodetector 13 of a luminescent point being a cornea reflection of the eye to be examined, and a reference position on the photodetector 13 determined in advance in accordance with the optical axes of the measuring systems 1, 2, the shift amount of the optical axes 31, 32 and the optical axis of the eye to be examined is calculated.
