Abstract:

To inexpensively determine degradation of oil irrespective of a factor for the oil degradation and in consideration of worn states of engine parts, manufacture differences of the parts, and temperature or the like in a device for determining the degradation of the oil.

An oil remaining service life is determined by determining a basic remaining service life of the oil from a total number of rotations of an engine after oil replacement, determining a remaining service life correction value from the total number of rotations of the engine after oil replacement, and subtracting the remaining service life correction value from the basic remaining service life. The oil remaining service life can also be corrected by engine cooling water temperature or by performing weighting on usage frequencies to engine loads.
