PURPOSE: To maintain high stability of a driving system without lowering responsiveness by providing a built-in compensating means for taking positive account of the response delay (lag and dead time) of the driving system of a hydraulic servo and compensating this response delay.
CONSTITUTION: The control means of an automatic transmission feedback- controls the engaging pressure of the hydraulic servo of a speed change friction engagement device at real time at the time of speed change so that the actual rotating speed of a rotating member follows the target rotating speed. This control means is provided with a built-in compensating means for compensating the response delay (lag and dead time) of the driving system of he hydraulic servo. Accordingly, when an engaging pressure correcting command is outputted at the time of feedback control, responsiveness until the actual change of the actual rotating speed of the rotating member is taken into account in addition to deviation between the actual rotating speed and the target rotating speed before the output of the engaging pressure correcting command. Sudden change in the hydraulic correction command quantity is thus prevented, and thereby the feedback control system is stabilized, as well as the generation of speed change shock can be reduced.
