Abstract:
PURPOSE:To both utilize an effective engine brake operation and prevent the deterioration of durability of a directly coupled clutch, by actuating the directly coupled clutch only when a maximum speed stage in each variable speed range is accomplished. CONSTITUTION:In an overdrive range of D range, when a maximum speed stage in each range is accomplished, an oil pressure appears at a port 108 of an oil pressure selector valve 101. This oil pressure, when the car speed at that time is not less than a certain value previously determined and a fail-safe valve 110 is selected to a selection position 110B, is fed to a port 118 of a directly coupled clutch control valve 117 from ports 111, 115 via oil line 116 and selected to a selection position 117B. Then the line pressure is transmitted from an oil line 121 to a port 126 in the directly coupled clutch control valve 117 through ports 120, 124 of the fail- safe valve 110 and fed to an oil pressure chamber 151 in the directly coupled clutch.
