Title:
OIL SEAL FOR TORATY PISTON ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5554605
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent lowering of the sealing performance of O-rings, by fitting seal rings in place together with springs. CONSTITUTION:Annular recess 16 is formed in the side face of rotor 3, and a member 17 having annular sealing grooves 20 is fitted in the recess 16 with required clearances 21, 22 formed continuously with each other at the peripheral surface and at the back of member 17. Further, oil seal rings 18 are fitted in the grooves 20 together with respective springs 19. With such an arrangement, it is pervented that thermal deformation of sealing grooves 20 is caused by thermal deformation of rotor 3 or otherwise extent of such thermal deformation of the grooves 20 can be reduced. At the same time, oil seal rings 18 can be kept in tight contact with the inner surface of side housing 2, so that oil consumption can be decreased. Further, since member 17 is heat-insulated from rotor 3 in the above arrangement, temperature rise of the member 17, oil seal rings 18 and O-rings 23 can be prevented.
