Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the separation characteristics of refrigerating machine oil by making the speeds of refrigerant flows when passing through swirl holes uniform and by suppressing reduction in speeds of the refrigerant flows.SOLUTION: An oil separator 10 comprises a cylindrical container 11, an inlet pipe 12, an outlet pipe 16, and a division plate 13 which divides the inside of the container 11 into a first space 14 and a second space 15. The central axis of a tip portion of the inlet pipe 12 agrees with the central axis of the container 11. The division plate 13 is circular in the outer periphery, protrudes convexly to the first space 14 side and has an inclined surface which is rotationally symmetric around the central axis of the container 11. The angle made by a tangential plane at the inclined surface of the division plate 13 with respect to the central axis direction of the tip portion of the inlet pipe 12 is less than 90 degrees. The division plate 13 is formed with plural swirl holes at a fixed distance from the tip portion of the inlet pipe 12, the swirl holes guiding a refrigerant flowing along the inclined surface to the second space 15 and forming swirl flows of the refrigerant.
