To securely separate a refrigerating machine oil from a refrigerant not only even in the case of a high flow rate but also even in the case of a low flow rate.
For a refrigerant in which a refrigerating machine oil is mixed the refrigerant flowing into a container 15 from an inlet pipe 17 collides a separation plate 21 to separate oil droplets while a refrigerant in which oil droplets not separated there are mixed is introduced into a space A in the container from a through-hole 27 formed in the separation plate. A cover 25 covering an opening 19a in an outlet pipe 19 is provided in the separation plate 21 to prevent oil on the separation plate 21 form being scattered and taken into the opening 19a. A flow of the refrigerant passing through the through-hole 27 fails to be directly moved to the opening 19 in the outlet pipe 19 and is reversed after flowing down, and further passes between the cover 25 and the outlet pipe 19 and is taken into the opening in the outlet pipe 19. According, the refrigerant after passing through the separation plate 21 is not directly taken into the outlet pipe 19, and since there is securely reversed the flow of the refrigerant, an oil fraction having higher density than the refrigerant is securely separated to improve separation efficiency of the oil fraction.
