Abstract:
To obtain a usage of oil-soluble iodides for improving the oxidation resistance of a lubricating oil and a fuel and to obtain a novel composition containing these iodides.
An oil-soluble iodide such as a 16-78C alkylammonium iodide and an oil-soluble or oil-dispersible iodide such as CoI2, CuI, KI, or NaI can be used in combination with an appropriate dispersant typically in an amount of about 40-about 1,000 ppm. These additives are effective as an antioxidant for various kinds of base oils and mixed oils.
